KISS drops drum solo from tour

(Launch) - One thing different for KISS on its current tour is the lack of a drum solo. Ace Frehley still takes his trademark lead guitar spot during the show, Gene Simmons continues his blood-and-fire theatrics and Paul Stanley flies to mid-crowd on a harness, but Peter Criss doesn't do his traditional solo during the concert. It's not that the other guys asked him to take a break - rather, Criss opted to pass for the sake of the show. In a recent interview, Criss explained his position this way: "We thought we'd rather do a lot more songs than a lot of antics, even though we'll have the flying and the rockets and bombs and all that. We wanted to play a lot more music."
