Alleging that the movie contains depictions of sex and drug use that "damage the magazine's family oriented image," the science fiction publication Famous Monsters of Filmlmand filed suit Thursday against New Line Cinema's forthcoming film "Detroit Rock City," claiming that the magazine is featured prominently in the film without authorization from the publisher. The magazine, which also named KISS member and movie co-producer Gene Simmons in the suit, is also seeking an injunction to stop the film's release. Studio spokespeople could not immediately be reached for comment. The film opens August 13.
