The big surprise of the weekend is the ongoing power of The Sixth Sense, which remains in first place with what looks to be a drop of less than 20 percent. On the flip side, despite a spirited net-based effort, The Iron Giant's Friday gross dropped by 41 percent. Bowfinger opens in second place and is doing okay, but the under-$20 million start is one of Eddie Murphy's weaker summer openings. The film is doing particularly well in Los Angeles. Blair Witch will pass $100 million sometime Saturday. Brokedown Palace probably won't manage to hit $5 million. And New Line' Detroit Rock City finsihed out of the money in the 13th spot with just $750,000. Ouch.
