| HOLLYWOOD, March 3 /PRNewswire/ -- The 7th Annual Women's Day Celebration, honoring a select group of women who have made a positive contribution to society, will take place Monday, March 8th, at the Tiffany Theater, 8532 Sunset Boulevard, Hollywood. The cocktail reception and silent auction begin at 7 p.m., with performances beginning at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 per person. This year's celebration is hosted by Cynthia Kersey, the best-selling author of ``Unstoppable.'' Program guests and performers include Donzaleigh Abernathy, actress (``Any Day Now''/Lifetime Television), author, speaker and daughter of the late Rev. Dr. Ralph Abernathy; Yvonne Burke, Los Angeles County Supervisor and the first African-American elected to state office in California; Dyan Cannon, actress currently appearing in Fox TV's ``Ally McBeal''; Ron Maxwell, director (``Gettysburg''); Nate Holden, Los Angeles City Council member; Diana Nyad, world record-setting swimmer; Jim Abrahams, director (``Airplane''); Paul Sorvino, actor (``Goodfellas,'' ``Law & Order''); and Beata Pozniak, actress (``JFK,'' ``Young Indiana Jones''). The holiday was conceived to aid the international movement for women's suffrage and has been celebrated around the world for more than 80 years. Many developed countries celebrate IWD with special celebrations, activities for school children, flowers and tributes to women. The holiday has yet to receive significant attention here in the US. For the past few years, Beata Pozniak, founder of Women's Day USA, has worked with local, state and federally elected officials to acquire national recognition of this important day.
