Calista's Play Renamed, Co-Stars Named

Calista Flockhart's off-Broadway production has a new name and two leading men.

Although the show, previously entitled A Gaggle of Saints, might as well be called See Calista Flockhart Just Because She's Famous, the series of three one-acts by Neil LaBute is now called Bash. Subsequently, one of those acts, "Bash," has been renamed "A Gaggle of Saints." Everyone confused? Good.

Paul Rudd (The Object of My Affection) will play opposite Flockhart in "Gaggle," while the Ally McBeal star will provide an intent onstage audience for Ron Eldard (ER) as he performs the monologue called "Iphegenia at Orem."

Wafer-thin Flockhart appears by herself in "Medea Redux."

Bash will run for five weeks starting in June.

In other "Hollyway-Broadwood" news, producers are hoping to woo Cate Blanchett to this side of the Atlantic. Blanchett, who earned an Oscar nomination for her role in Elizabeth, has garnered high praise from English critics for her starring turn in Plenty. According to the New York Post, Blanchett has not yet agreed to performing in the David Hare show in New York after its London run ends.

Hare's current Broadway coup is Amy's View, featuring Judi Dench (who won an Oscar for portraying an older Queen Elizabeth in Shakespeare in Love). He's also responsible for last year's steamy The Blue Room, with Nicole Kidman.
