REPEAT/Columbia Pictures and Mandalay Entertainment Announce the Premiere of "Dance With Me" for Thursday, Aug. 13

CULVER CITY--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--Aug. 10, 1998--The premiere of Columbia Pictures and Mandalay Entertainment's ``Dance With Me'' will be held on Thursday, Aug. 13, at 7:30 p.m. at the Hollywood Galaxy Theatre, 7021 Hollywood Blvd., with a party immediately following at the Palace, 1735 N. Vine St.

Attending from the film will be Vanessa L. Williams, Chayanne, Jane Krakowski, Beth Grant, director/producer Randa Haines, screenwriter/choreographer Daryl Matthews, producers Lauren C. Weissman and Shinya Egawa, executive producer Ted Zachary and executive music producers Joel Sill and Budd Carr.

Directed by Haines, ``Dance With Me'' is a romantic dance movie starring the multitalented Williams in an exciting star turn, Latin American music idol Chayanne in his American film debut and the inimitable Kris Kristofferson.

``Dance With Me'' is a story of grand dreams and implausible romance moving between two electrifying worlds: the spicy salsa club scene and the elegant, high-stakes atmosphere of professional competitive ballroom dancing. It is told to the stirring sounds of an eclectic musical mix performed by an impressive array of popular talents, all featured on the sizzling Epic Records soundtrack.

Rounding out the cast are Tony award nominee Krakowski, who stars in the ``Ally McBeal'' TV series; versatile character actress Beth Grant; three-time Tony nominee Harry Groener; William Marquez, who co-stars in TriStar Pictures' ``The Mask Of Zorro''; Scott Paetty, making his motion picture debut; and internationally acclaimed actress Joan Plowright.

Written by Matthews, the film is produced by Weissman, Egawa and Haines. Zachary is executive producer, with Aldric La'auli Porter and Allan Wertheim as associate producers.

The creative team includes director of photography Fred Murphy, production designer Waldemar Kalinowski, costume designer Joe I. Tompkins, film editor Lisa Fruchtman and composer Michael Convertino, all of whom previously worked with Haines. Screenwriter Matthews, a professional salsa and competitive ballroom dancer, and seven-time U.S. Professional Latin Dance Champion Liz Curtis served as choreographers. Sill and Carr are executive music producers.
