Synopsis:

(From NBC)
THE PRYOR FAMILY COMES TO GRIPS WITH A NATIONAL TRAGEDY -- Still in shock over the assassination of the President, the Pryors attempt to regain their normal routine in a changed world, looking to each other for an explanation of this tragedy. Additionally, Meg's (Brittany Snow) social world is rocked by the realization that her best friend Roxanne (Vanessa Lengies) was not invited to dance on American Bandstand - splitting this dynamic duo into a solo act. JJ (Will Estes) struggles to put his own life back in focus, fighting against his dad's (Tom Verica) desires for his future and his own longing to be back on the football field, while Helen (Gail O'Grady) broadens her mind, opening to the possibilities of going back to school. Jonathan Adams, Ethan Dampf, Sarah Ramos and Virginia Madsen also star.

(From TV Guide)
Pop star Michelle Branch appears as American Bandstand favorite Lesley Gore (and sings her hit You Don't Own Me) in the series' second episode.

It's Thanksgiving week in 1963, but, in the wake of the JFK assassination, no one feels thankful. Even Meg's selection as a Bandstand regular seems hollow to her---especially since best friend Roxanne (Vanessa Lengies) wasn't chosen. And the resentful Roxanne isn't going easy on Meg (Brittany Snow). Meanwhile, East Catholic's football team has a hole at running back without J.J. (Will Estes); and Helen (Gail O'Grady) gets together with the worldly Rebecca Sandstrom (Virginia Madsen) at Temple University.
