Henry's son Sam (Arlen Escarpeta) earns a track scholarship to almost-all-white East Catholic. Guess who's coming to dinner at the Pryors' house? Meanwhile, Meg attracts the attention of “Bandstand” stalwart Jimmy Riley (Jesse Hutch), and the ire of a rumor-spreading regular named Teresa (Michelle Morgan). J.J. returns to the football team and fights with Beth (Rachel Boston) over college applications. (He also hears her father call him a “Catholic kid from West Philly” to his country-club friends.) And Helen decides to take a literature course at Temple. Rebecca: Virginia Madsen.

(From NBC)
THE PRYORS WELCOME A FRIENDLY FACE INTO THEIR HOME AND THEIR WORLD -- Coming to grips with the changing world around him, Jack (Tom Verica) welcomes Sam (Arlen Escarpeta), son of his longtime employee Henry (Jonathan Adams) -- and the newest student at East Catholic High -- into his home as he attempts to ease his transition into an unfamiliar situation. Enjoying the prestige of her new role as a regular on American Bandstand, Meg (Brittany Snow) hopes to win the affection of teen heartthrob Jimmy Riley (guest star Jesse Hutch), despite the interference of her newfound nemesis and fellow dancer Teresa (guest star). Helen (Gail O'Grady) begins a new role of her own taking the first steps into higher education as she joins new friend and fellow student Rebecca (Virginia Madsen) at Temple University. Elsewhere, JJ (Will Estes) returns to a familiar place as he quietly steps back onto the gridiron and prepares to move forward toward college. Vanessa Lengies, Arlen Escarpeta, Jonathan Adams, Ethan Dampf and Sarah Ramos also star.
