Synopsis:

Meg goes on her first date, with Jimmy Riley (Jesse Hutch). But first, Roxanne gives her some dating tips, which Patty overhears. Jack and Helen are also stepping out: Rebecca Sandstrom (Virginia Madsen) has invited them to dinner with her and her economics-professor husband. Meanwhile, Beth (Rachel Boston) won't be able to make Patty's spelling bee because she has to get ready for a mixer at Swarthmore. This is troubling for JJ because she doesn't want him to go with her. Sam: Arlen Escarpeta.

ROMANCE IS IN THE AIR IN THE PRYOR HOUSE AS MEG PREPARES FOR HER FIRST DATE --Full of anxiety, Meg (Brittany Snow), with the help of her romantically experienced best friend Roxanne (Vannessa Lengies), prepares for her first date with teen heartthrob and "Bandstand" regular Jimmy Riley (guest star Jesse Hutch). Meanwhile, Jack (Tom Verica) and Helen (Gail O'Grady) prepare for a new social experience of their own when they spend an evening with Helen's classmate Rebecca (Virginia Madsen), her husband (guest star) and their radical ideas.
