Synopsis:

JJ's eyes are opened to the harsh realities of war after a village is razed; well-wishers record an audio reel for JJ; Meg blabs a secret during an argument with her mother; Carla Thomas (guest star Macy Gray) sings ``B-A-B-Y''; Lenny Bruce (guest star Rich Vos) performs at the Lair.

On “Bandstand,” Carla Thomas (impersonated by Macy Gray) sings “B.A.B.Y.,” and off the set, Meg is chafing because her curfew makes her feel like one while Drew's college friends are moving in with their girlfriends. Meanwhile, Roxanne tries to hide her disappointment when Luke (Jamie Elman) shows interest in another girl; two black Muslims have a business proposition for Henry; Helen and Beth go to a comedy club together (the attraction is Lenny Bruce); JJ samples the local culture in Vietnam; and Patty discovers a secret in the family Bible. Bruce: Rich Vos.

MACY GRAY GUESTS STARS AS CARLA THOMAS AND FUNNYMAN RICH VOS GUEST STARS AS LENNY BRUCE - JJ (Will Estes) continues to learn about the harsh realities of war after the US destroys the village of a Vietnamese family he just met. Back at home, his own family lovingly assembles him a care package and records well-wishes on an audio reel. Jack (Tom Verica) goes to a conference and is not only surprised by Pete's (guest star Matthew Armstrong) arrival, but also by Pete's conduct with the women. Meanwhile, mayhem breaks out at home as Meg (Brittany Snow) continues to push the envelop with dating Drew (guest star Sam Page). Then Patty (Sarah Ramos) discovers a secret about Helen (Gail O'Grady) and shares it with Meg, who exposes it during an argument with her mother after she she's caught breaking curfew. Things heat up when Roxanne (Vanessa Lengies) realizes she has feelings for Luke (guest star Jamie Elman), and Henry (Jonathan Adams) accepts money from the Muslims to open his own repair store. Macy Gray ("When I See You") guest stars as Motown great Carla Thomas singing, "B.A.B.Y." Rich Vos also guest stars as Lenny Bruce performing standup at the Lair. Rachel Boston, Ethan Dampf, Arlen Escarpeta also star.
