Synopsis:

Jack delves into city politics; Patty takes the rap for crashing the car; Beth's parents give her two options; JJ's squad rescues American prisoners of war; the Everly Brothers (Evan & Jaron) perform at the Lair.

The Motown group the Velvelettes (fronted by Tyra Banks) perform on “Bandstand” and the Everly Brothers (Evan and Jaron) play at the Vinyl Crocodile, while in Vietnam, JJ is promoted to corporal. He won't be able to rest on his laurels for long. Meanwhile, the war hits home for Will as he watches the news on TV; Beth tells her parents that she's pregnant; Patty pesters Meg to teach her to drive; Meg gets Sam a pass to “Bandstand” to see the Lovin' Spoonful perform; and Roxanne gives Luke a very expensive Nehru jacket. Ben Taylor, the son of James Taylor and Carly Simon, performs the Beatles' “In My Life” in a scene set at the Penn nightspot the Lair.

TYRA BANKS GUEST-STARS AS A VELVELETTE, EVAN & JARON AS THE EVERLY BROTHERS, BEN TAYLOR AS A SINGER IN THE LAIR, AND JILL RAPPAPORT RETURNS - As Jack (Tom Verica) begins to learn about city politics, Sam (Arlen Escarpeta) becomes more aware of the societal differences in the world. Meanwhile, Roxanne (Vanessa Lengies) and Luke (guest star Jamie Elman) are conflicted as they try to decide on the fate of their relationship, and Patty (Sarah Ramos) and Meg (Brittany Snow) share an unusual sisterly moment when Patty takes the rap for crashing their father's car after Meg confides in her about Beth (Rachel Boston). Beth finally tells her parents her secret, and they give her two choices -- neither of which is easy. Meanwhile, JJ (Will Estes) resumes his life as a top Marine, where he is promoted to a squad that rescues American POWs. Tyra Banks ("America's Next Top Model") guest-stars as a Velvelette singing "He Was Really Sayin' Something," Evan & Jaron ("Crazy for This Girl") guest-stars as The Everly Brothers, singing "Wake Up Little Suzie" in the Vinyl Crocodile, Ben Taylor ("Famous Among the Barns") guest-star as a singer in the Lair singing "In My Life" (Beatles), and Jill Rappaport (NBC's "Today") reprises her guest-starring role as a music reporter.
