About the character:

About the actor:
A native of Chicago and graduate of Temple University, Jesse Williams began his professional career teaching American, African and African-American history in low income Philadelphia public charter schools. From there he moved to New York City and, after working at a law firm, began his professional acting career, performing off-Broadway at The Cherry Lane Theatre, under the direction of award-winning playwright Edward Albee in "The Sandbox." Williams' feature credits include "Brooklyn's Finest," "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2" and "The Cabin in the Woods."

Williams founded the production company farWord Inc., and is the executive producer of Official 2012 Sundance Selection Question Bridge: Black Males, a transmedia and video installation to be exhibited at the Brooklyn Museum, Oakland Museum of California, the Los Angeles Film Festival and Utah Museum of Contemporary Art. The website (http://www.QuestionBridge.com) also houses a free high school curriculum (which will soon be employed in Oakland, Brooklyn and Atlanta) and will launch as a 24-hour dialogue hub, facilitating exchanges around Black male identity among a critical mass of American Black men, welcoming nationwide interaction.

Williams will next executive-produce and star in the bio-pic "Snake & Mongoose" as legendary drag racer Don "The Snake" Prudhomme, followed by two period pieces, the Lee Daniels-directed epic "The Butler," alongside Forest Whitaker and Liam Neeson, and the western "They Die By Dawn," with Idris Elba and Erykah Badu.
