(Recap From ABC)
Ellis is admitted to the hospital. The secret is out Meredith's mom, the brilliant surgeon, has Alzheimer's. Cristina faints in Burke's surgery. Addison operates on Cristina who loses the baby and one of her fallopian tubes. Bailey is supportive of Cristina through her surgery and recovery. Burke is concerned for Cristina, but is kept busy in surgery. He finally discovers Cristina was pregnant. The interns sit at Cristina's bedside, after her surgery, but Burke can't bring himself to enter. Izzie and Alex are flirting with each other. Izzie feels left out, always the last to know about everything especially when it comes to her friends. George reminds Ellis of Meredith's father. He defends Meredith to Ellis: I don't like the way you talk to her. Then later, he comforts Ellis by lying in bed with her, letting her think he's Thatcher.

Female patients find Derek just as McDreamy as the staff as is the case with Derek's young patient who is in for surgery to make her stop blushing. Addison asks Derek to consult on a case of a premature baby in ICU, who has very little chance of surviving. Addison has hope, both for the baby, and for their marriage. She kisses Derek. Richard comes back to the hospital before Derek clears him for surgery. Derek is holding a grudge because Richard gave interim chief to Burke and invited Addison "Satan" to Seattle. Meredith tells Richard that Ellis is reliving the heyday of her residency and would appreciate a visit from him. Richard can't bring himself to go see Ellis. He tells George to take care of her. When Richard finally goes to Ellis' room, Ellis grabs Richard's hand: Richard, you beautiful man, thank God you're here. Meredith finally breaks down from having to pretend all day long that she is fine. She is tired of hating Derek. She can't do it anymore. Meredith kisses Derek.
