About Charles: Charles Malik Whitfield stars as James Mooney, an idealistic and devoted employee of Children’s Legal Services in the new one-hour drama from Columbia TriStar Television, THE GUARDIAN, airing Tuesday nights, 9-10 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.

Whitfield should be a familiar face this fall, having been seen in numerous guest-starring roles on television in series such as "Now and Again" and "Touched By An Angel," both for CBS, "Homicide," "Law and Order," "Seven Days," "New York Undercover," "One Life To Live" and the television film "The Temptations." He will next be seen in the TNT film "Second String" with Jon Voight and Gil Bellows.

On the big screen, he will soon be seen in the feature film "Behind Enemy Lines" opposite Gene Hackman, and the independent film “Potluck.” His additional film credits include "Calis Vipe," "The Court," "Prison Song," "Dusk Till Dawn," "Bleeding Hearts," "Fresh" and "Night in the City."

Whitfield performed in the Carnegie Hall production of "Voices from the Front Line." He has also appeared in numerous regional theater productions such as "Shyster," "Ohio Tip Off," "Christ Child," "The L Word," "Asylum" and "What Joe Did."

Born and raised in the Bronx, Whitfield currently resides in Los Angeles. His birthdate is Aug. 1.
