However, as a family member, Burton is hesitant to head up the case and names Jake as the point man. But when Burton learns of Liz's terminal illness, he takes back the reigns to protect Liz. At the same time, Nick finds himself protecting Liz's son, Jeremy, a trouble teenager who is about to learn of his mother's fate.
