(Recap From ABC)
The light in the office flickers from the fallen lamp on the floor. Charlotte King struggles with labored, gasping breaths. She staggers into the hospital hall and makes her way into a supply room. It’s dark. We can’t see her face until Pete steps in and flips on the light. Charlotte turns. She asks Pete to close the door. She doesn’t want anyone to see her so beaten and bloody.

Pete shoos away the busybody nurses as he examines Charlotte. She has a broken hand, wrist, nose and injured eye socket. When he steps away, she makes a phone call. Later, the police try to take a statement but an angry Pete keeps interrupting. Addison enters the room. Surprise, surprise. She’s the mystery person Charlotte called.

Addison shuffles everyone out of the room, including Pete. She knows Charlotte has been keeping a secret from all those trying to help her. It’s understandable. It has to be near impossible to say aloud that you’ve been raped. In fact, Charlotte doesn’t want Addison to say it aloud either. She only wants to report that she was robbed. Charlotte says, “No rape kit. He took my wallet. He didn’t take anything else.”

Sheldon is called down to the police station. He’s asked to evaluate Lee, a disturbed man who was brought in with blood on his clothes. The blood isn’t his. As for the rest of the Oceanside docs, most of them are at a bar celebrating Cooper’s impeding nuptials. The party abruptly ends when Violet comes by to deliver the bad news about Charlotte.

Cooper is very upset and very intoxicated. That’s probably why he puts his fist through a wall. Pete sets him up with an IV to sober him up. Addison tells Cooper he should prepare himself when he sees Charlotte. He tries, but it’s rough when he enters the room. Charlotte is the one who was hurt but she somehow finds the strength to comfort the distraught man she loves.

Addison tries to get Charlotte to reconsider her decision about reporting the rape. The conversation does not end well. When Addison leaves, Pete pops by to convince her to let him help with the pain. Charlotte can’t take pills, so she agrees to let him do his thing. Now if only Pete had something to help Addison deal with the turmoil she’s feeling from the secret she must keep.

Sheldon is oblivious to all that’s happened as he interviews Lee. The man with the bloody shirt had a fight with his girlfriend. Lee says he caught her cheating on him. Sheldon eventually asks Lee about the blood on his clothes. He thinks it belongs to his girlfriend. But Lee insists it’s not her blood. We know this much is true.

Sheldon gets Lee to admit that he attacked and raped a woman. He tries to get a name, but Lee snaps. He attacks Sheldon and the cops are forced to pry him away. The interview is over and Sheldon still has no idea that the woman Lee attacked was Charlotte. The police won’t be able to hold him for long. He’ll be back on the street unless the victim comes forward. As we know, that’s not about to happen anytime soon.

Charlotte breaks down and tells Coop she just wants to go home. So that’s where they’re going. Charlotte walks slowly down the hospital hallway eliciting stares from everyone she sees. She says, “Don’t you people have somewhere to be?” This scatters the nosey staff. As they continue the difficult trek toward the door, Charlotte asks Cooper not to let her fall. He won’t. Of course, he won’t.
