(8/14/22) Jessica Klein, a writer and producer on Beverly Hills, 90210 for seven seasons, has died. She was 66. Her daughter Shira Rose confirmed on a Facebook post that the death of her mother was on July 13.

“My mom passed at 8:21am this morning. It was peaceful. We were together. Will share funeral and shiva information when I know. It will all be here in LA,” Rose shared.

Klein died of pancreatic cancer after being diagnosed in November of the year before. The television producer and writer had been updating her friends and family about her health via a Facebook group, Rose said in a post shared on July 4.

Klein also had writing credits on Capitol, Mancuso, FBI, Northern Exposure, Gabriel’s Fire, and As The World Turns. Her last credit as a writer was in 2013 for the daytime soap One Life To Live where she participated in 39 episodes.

As a producer, Klein received a supervising producer credit for 20 episodes on The Other Kingdom in 2016 and a consulting producer credit for 22 episodes on Make It Pop between 2015 and 2016.

Back in 2019, Deadline reported that Klein had been hired by the studio Brat as VP of Programming and aimed to attract Generation Z.

‘Desperate Housewives’ Alums James Denton & Teri Hatcher Reunite In Hallmark Channel’s ‘A Kiss Before Christmas’

(10/7/21) It will be a Desperate Housewives reunion on Hallmark Channel. Two former stars of the ABC drama, James Denton and Teri Hatcher, will headline A Kiss Before Christmas, a holiday movie that will premiere during the cable channel’s annual Countdown to Christmas programming event.

It is the first time the pair has worked together since Desperate Housewives ended in 2012. Their characters had an on-again, off-again relationship in that series.

Marilu Henner co-stars, and Denton also executive produces.

In A Kiss Before Christmas, real estate development executive Ethan Holt (Denton) is a married father with two teens. On Christmas Eve, he is disappointed to learn he’s losing out on a promotion and laments that his “nice guy” way of doing business has held him back in his career. Thanks to some Christmas magic, Ethan’s casual wish that his life had taken a different course becomes reality. He wakes up the next morning and is shocked to find everything is different – he isn’t married to Joyce (Hatcher), he doesn’t have two teenaged kids, and he’s CEO of his company. Joyce is the key to Ethan being able to reclaim his original life and the family he loves; he must convince her that their happily-ever-after is waiting for them — and he only has until Christmas Day.

Jeff Beesley directs from a script by Mark Amato and Tracy Andreen.

“From the very beginning I wanted the first Hallmark Christmas movie I produced to be unique,” Denton said. “I had no idea that we’d be lucky enough to get Teri. We’ve always wanted to work together again, and we found the perfect vehicle for what I think is the first Desperate Housewives reunion.

“And since we’re on Hallmark, I don’t have to worry about getting shot at the end,” he quipped.

“Since that famous scene where he found me in the bushes, I knew James and I would be friends for life,” Hatcher said. “The chemistry and friendship we had on Desperate Housewives is alive and well all these years later, and the loving, warm spirit of the holidays is the perfect backdrop for reuniting. It’s amazing to be back together. It’s just like old times. You won’t want to miss it.”

On Desperate Housewives, Denton played Mike Delfino, the love interest and eventual husband — and ex-husband — of Hatcher’s Susan Mayer, for eight seasons 2004-12.

A Kiss Before Christmas is from Crown Media Productions. Stan Spry, Eric Woods, Denton, Jonathan Eskenas and Kimberley Bradley are executive producers. Devan Towers serves as co-producer.

Jess Walton Mourns the Death of Her Husband, John

(8/13/21) (soapsindepth.com) Please join us in sending love to THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS star Jess Walton (Jill), who is mourning the death of her beloved husband, John James. “My sweet husband of 40 years passed away this week,” the actress shared on Twitter along with a family photo of them with their children, Allison and Cole. She shared more details on her Instagram and Facebook.

“Three months ago, my sweet husband of 40 years, John, was diagnosed with terminal liver cancer,” she wrote. “Since that time, with weekly visits from hospice, my daughter, Allison, her new husband, Wade, our son, Cole, and I have been caring for John at home. This has been far and away the most painful period of my life, and our children’s.

“At the same time, it has been richly rewarding,” Walton added. “Because John James has spent his entire life helping others, and most especially taking care of us, his family. For us to be able to devote ourselves to him in his home with all that entails, and give him love and care and comfort from the people he loves the most, was our honor. In the end, his greatest gift to us and all grievers, is the Grief Recovery Method, the company he founded. That gift will guide all of us through the daily heartbreak of living without him.”

On the Grief Recovery Method Instagram page, Cole shared a photo of himself with his family and opened up about losing his father. “It’s with a heavy heart that I must tell you that my dad, John W. James, founder of the Grief Recovery Method, died early Tuesday morning in the comfort of his home,” he wrote. “Grief is conflicting. On one hand, I am glad he is no longer in pain. On the other hand, I miss him terribly and can’t imagine life without him. He helped shape me into the man I am today and I want to pass that along to my children.”

Our thoughts are with Walton and her entire family during this difficult time.

Tawny Kitaen Dies: ‘Bachelor Party’ Actress And Whitesnake Video Vixen Was 59

(5/8/21) (Video) Tawny Kitaen (ex-Meredith, Capitol/ex-Lisa, Santa Barbara), an actress whose stunning presence in two Whitesnake videos helped propel that band’s multiplatinum albums to No. 1 in the late ’80s, died Friday in Newport Beach at age 59. No cause of death has been determined, according to numerous reports.

Whitesnake’s hits Here I Go Again and Is This Love from the album Whitesnake helped make that band the toast of the late 1980s, thanks in no small part to Kitaen’s allure. Here I Go Again reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1987.

Kitaen was also prominent in the 1984 film Bachelor Party, starring Tom Hanks. She also starred in the 1984 French cult classic The Perils of Gwendoline and 2014’s After Midnight.

Director Marty Callner, who was behind the camera for the memorable Whitesnake videos, posted on Facebook about the time he met Kitaen.

“When I met David Coverdale, we met for lunch, he had $5, a condom in his wallet, no car insurance, and was staying at the Mondrian hotel (he couldn’t afford it, but the owner liked him), singing jingles for New York Seltzer, and basically out of the business. I was approached by his manager, Howard Kaufman, who also represented Heart, who I was working with at the time. Howard and John Kolodner asked me if I would direct a video for Whitesnake, on the cheap, because Geffen records had no money to put into the project. I liked the song, and decided to go ahead with it. We made our first video, “Still Of The Night,” which was a 9 minute song, with some guys who didn’t even play on the record.

“Near the end of the shoot, I knew we didn’t have a video, and in walks Tawny Kitaen to my house, with David, and I immediately asked her if she would be in the video. I knew it would be the perfect layer. She had so much magic, so much charisma, so sexy, so sweet, I loved her immediately, and I knew, and was right that she would be not only the first, but the ultimate video vixen.

“Whitesnake ended up saving Geffen Records, we went onto make groundbreaking videos, including “Here I Go Again” & “Is This Love.” They sold millions of records, and Tawny became a bigger superstar than she already was.”

Kitaen started out on the game show “To Tell the Truth” in 1976 and eventually migrated into movies.

After her video success, she married Whitesnake lead singer David Coverdale in 1989. She then married Angels baseball pitcher Chuck Finley, and had two daughters with him.

Kitaen is survived by daughters Wynter, 28, and Raine, 22. No memorial plans have been revealed.

Kelly Preston Dies of Breast Cancer at 57: 'She Was a Bright, Beautiful and Loving Soul'

(7/12/20) Kelly Preston has died. She was 57.

"On the morning of July 12, 2020, Kelly Preston, adored wife and mother, passed away following a two-year battle with breast cancer," a family representative tells PEOPLE exclusively.

"Choosing to keep her fight private, she had been undergoing medical treatment for some time, supported by her closest family and friends," the family rep says. "She was a bright, beautiful and loving soul who cared deeply about others and who brought life to everything she touched. Her family asks for your understanding of their need for privacy at this time."

Preston is survived by her husband John Travolta and their children: daughter Ella, 20, and 9-year-old son Benjamin. Son Jett died at age 16 in January 2009.

Preston, who was born Kelly Kamalelehua Smith on October 13, 1962, in Honolulu, Hawaii, studied acting at the University of Southern California and launched her career in 1985 with her first major movie role in Mischief after several minor roles in television shows, including For Love and Honor.

In the next few years, Preston starred in films such as SpaceCamp (1986), Twins (1988), Jerry Maguire (1996) and For Love of the Game (1999). Preston's final film role was in the 2018 film Gotti in which she played Victoria Gotti, the wife of Mafia boss John Gotti, who was portrayed on screen by Travolta.

Along with her career, Preston treasured her decades-long romance with husband Travolta.

On New Year's Eve 1991, Travolta proposed at the Palace Hotel restaurant in Gstaad, Switzerland, with a six-carat yellow-and-white diamond ring. When they got married on Sept. 5, 1991, Preston was two months pregnant with their son Jett. (The couple later got married for a second time on U.S. soil in Daytona Beach, Florida.)

Last September, Travolta and Preston celebrated their 28th wedding anniversary. "Happy Anniversary to my wonderful wife ?? @therealkellypreston," the Grease actor wrote on Instagram at the time.

Preston wrote a heartfelt note to her husband, sharing: "To my dearest Johnny, the most wonderful man I know. You have given me hope when I have felt lost, loved me patiently and unconditionally… made me laugh harder than any other human being possible… shared the most beautiful highs and at times low. You're a dream Daddio and make life so much fun!! I trust my love with you implicitly… with you I know I will always be okay no matter what happens… I love you forever and completely. Happy 28th Anniversary @johntravolta."

In 2018, Preston told PEOPLE about one of the couple's last romantic moments. "I think it's when Johnny just whisks me away, and we'll jump on the airplane and go out to dinner, and I don't know where we're going. It's good to be married to a pilot!" she said.

And the mother of three adored her children. "I've wanted babies since I was 9," Preston told InStyle in 2001.

Their son Jett was born in April 1992 and daughter Ella was born in April 2000. Following Jett's tragic death, son Ben was born in November 2010 after Preston and Travolta tried for three years to conceive.

Preston's final Instagram post was a family selfie in celebration of Father's Day in June. "Happy Father’s Day to the best one I know, we love you," she captioned the photo which starred their son Ben and daughter Ella. In addition, Preston posted a black-and-white portrait of Travolta and Jett.

Stars Remember Marj Dusay

(1/29/20) Stars took to social media to remember Marj Dusay (ex-Alexandra, GUIDING LIGHT et al), who passed away at the age of 83.

On-screen son, Vincent Irizarry (ex-Lujack/Nick, GL) posted, “Honestly, not enough words for me to share my love and respect for, and sadness in the passing of our now late, great Marj Dusay. She was a force of nature as an actress, courageously pulling out all stops in whatever role she was gracing us with. Not only did she play my mother on two different shows, 2 very different characters, but in one of those shows she was brought in to replace the ever brilliant, incomparable Beverlee McKinsey when she left the role of Alexandra Spaulding on GL; a feat practically no other actress could have been able to accomplish. But Marj was never just any other actress, as she proved by making the role her own; doing so while sharing her dynamic brilliance with us as well… I reached out to her a couple months back, having heard that she was having a difficult time with some physical challenges as of late. I’m grateful to have heard her voice one last time, to have heard her infectious laughter one last time…

RIP darling Marj. Your gift was our blessing.” Ron Raines (ex-Alan, GL) tweeted, “Heartbroken by the loss of my dear friend and colleague Marj Dusay. Marj was a dear friend to me and I will miss her greatly. I, with a couple of other GL colleagues, visited her last year here in New York and we all had a wonderful visit. She was, as always, in terrific spirits And made us laugh a lot. We all talked of specific memories we shared with her while on set. Marj lived with much physical pain the last decades of her life however, and this is what’s amazing, she never complained. I will miss her and glad she is pain free now.

RIP dear Marj.” Robin Strasser (ex-Dorian, ONE LIFE TO LIVE) wrote, “HUGELY TALENTED & Stunning looking #MarjDusay When she stepped on a set everything was better because she showed up-Classy & impeccable-never stuck on herself-A wonderful human being RIP.”

Tina Sloan (ex-Lillian, GL) tweeted, “Lost the wonderful Marj Dusay aka Alexandra Spaulding. Great actress. Great woman. She will be very missed. RIP MARJ.”

Carrie Genzel (ex-Skye, ALL MY CHILDREN) tweeted, “I am heartbroken to hear of the passing of #MarjDusay. We had mutual friends in NYC and she was always so welcoming and wonderful to me. My heart goes out to her friends and family, and,her many fans who appreciated her on and off camera.”

Lisa Whelchel (Blair on The Facts Of Life): Just heard about the passing of Marj Dusay who played Blair’s mom, Monica Warner. She was absolutely perfect for the part, a seasoned actress and a delightful woman. It was a privilege to call her Facts of Life family.

(1/29/20) Veteran soap opera actress Marj Dusay, whose long list of daytime-TV credits included stints on Guiding Light, Santa Barbara, All My Children and Days of Our Lives, has died. She was 83.

During Dusay’s decades-long daytime career, she established herself as one of the industry’s most reliable recasts. Dusay made her suds debut in 1983 when she replaced Carolyn Jones as Washington, D.C. matriarch Myrna Clegg on CBS’ Capitol. Following that show’s cancellation in 1987, Dusay jumped to NBC’s Santa Barbara, where she took over the role of Mason Capwell’s mentally unstable mother Pamela from actress Shirley Ann Field. In 1993, she temporarily filled in for Louise Sorel as villainess Vivian Alamain on NBC’s Days of Our Lives, after which she succeeded Beverlee McKinsey as Alexandra Spaulding CBS’ Guiding Light, a role she played on and off from 1993 to 2009 and one that earned her a 1995 Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress.

It was in 1999 that Dusay finally originated her first soap role when she was cast as the evil Vanessa Bennett (mother to (Josh Duhamel’s Leo and Vincent Irizarry’s David) on ABC’s All My Children. She exited the soap in 2002.

Prior to making a name for herself in the soap world, Dusay made frequent guest appearances in primetime, most memorably on the original Star Trek (as alien Kara) and The Facts of Life (as Blair’s mother Monica).

Julie Adams Dies: ‘Creature From The Black Lagoon’ Actress Was 92

(2/4/19) Creature From the Black Lagoon star Julie Adams (Paula, Capitol/Denise, GH), an actress who, like Fay Wray and Evelyn Ankers before her won the hearts of classic Hollywood monsters and then generations of devoted fans, died Sunday in Los Angeles. She was 92.

Adams’ death was confirmed on her official website.

Where Wray perched atop the Empire State Building with King Kong and Ankers ran through fog-shrouded forests pursued by The Wolf Man, Adams secured her place in horror iconography underwater, notably an indelible scene in the 1954 Creature during which the actress, in a one-piece white bathing suit, swims atop the lagoon water as the creature known as the Gil-Man mimics her moves some feet below. The imagery would be echoed in countless films thereafter, memorably in both Jaws and 2017’s The Shape of Water.

“I mourn Julie Adams passing,” tweeted del Toro today. “It hurts in a place deep in me, where monsters swim.”

While Adams might best be remembered for her place in the Universal monster movie canon, her role as Kay Lawrence was but one of many over a career that stretched from 1949 well into the 2000s. Adams’ career ranged from B movies of the 1950s – despite her notable monster flick entry, her steadiest genre was the Western – to the episodic TV that kept her busy throughout the ’60s, ’70s, ’80s and ’90s. As late as 2007 she appeared on CSI:NY, and had a small role in the 2006 feature film World Trade Center.

Among her film credits: Tickle Me, a 1965 Elvis Presley vehicle; Dennis Hopper’s The Last Movie (1971); McQ with John Wayne (1974); The Underwater City (1962); The Killer Inside Me (1976); The Fifth Floor (1978); Champions (1984); and Catchfire (1990). Her final credit was a voiceover in director Roman Polanski’s 2011 film Carnage.

A small selection of TV credits through the decades include Alfred Hitchcock Presents, The Rifleman, Bonanza, The Streets of San Francisco, Marcus Welby, M.D., The Andy Griffith Show, Murder She Wrote, Beverly Hills 90210 and The Jimmy Stewart Show.

In 1955 Adams married actor Ray Danton, her costar in the film The Looters, and the two remained together until divorcing in 1981. She was in a long-term partnership with film and TV writer Ronald M. Cohen until his death in 1998.

Adams is survived by sons Steve Danton, an actor and assistant director, and Mitchell Danton, a TV editor, among other family.

Teri Hatcher runs with daughter for charity in NYC Marathon

(11/5/18) Former “Desperate Housewives” TV star Teri Hatcher and her daughter joined the throng of New York City Marathon runners Sunday.

Hatcher, 53, finished in 5 hours, 51 minutes and 21 seconds, while her 20-year-old daughter, Emerson Tenney, clocked in 5 seconds behind Mom.

The pair ran to raise money for the international charity Save the Children.

“I love the mother-daughter journey of it,” Hatcher told The Post after the race. “It really allowed us to have a lot of conversations about being there for each other.”

The actress added, “I have to say, the random kindness that you get offered from the fans that line the race is just, it could bring you to tears, it’s so amazing.”

Teri Hatcher details her sexual assault in letter to Donald Trump

(10/4/18) Former “Desperate Housewives” actress Teri Hatcher, who revealed in 2006 she was sexually abused by her uncle at age five, detailed her assault in an open letter to Donald Trump shared to social media.

“Mr. President @realDonaldTrump, I’d like to take this opportunity to weigh in on the process of recalling a sexual assault. #metoo #believe #survivor,” she wrote, after Trump mocked Dr. Christine Blasey Ford’s Senate testimony at a rally earlier this week.

Hatcher, 53, went on to detail what she could remember and what she couldn’t from the horrifying assault.

“Here’s what I remember: His erect penis, that he was stroking as he sat behind the wheel of the car,” she wrote. “‘Do you want to touch it?’ he asked. I said, ‘No.’ He took my hand to touch it anyway. It was pink. There were tissues. I didn’t know what they were for, but then I did.”

She continued, “I was face down on the seat looking at the floor as he violated me. He said, ‘Do you like how this feels?’ I said, ‘No.’ He said, ‘Someday you will.'”

She went on to write that she didn’t remember the address of where it happened, how she got there, how she got home, what day or month it was or if anyone was drinking beer.

“Sadly, myself and then decades later, teenager Sarah Van Cleemput, were abused by the same man. She committed suicide. I battled demons,” Hatcher wrote.

According to People, after 14-year-old Van Cleemput passed away in 2002, Hatcher came forward with her story, helping put Richard Hayes Stone behind bars.

She finished her note, directly addressing the President.

“I am a survivor, who stands available to help you understand the way the memories of a trauma like that work. It might be hard for you to understand,” she wrote. “I can readily explain in detail that ‘I don’t remember’ is often the most honest response surrounding questions of an assault. It does NOT mean it didn’t happen. Please do not add ‘Mocked by President’ to the injury list of a sexual survivor. It’s just plain wrong.”

House of Cards Final Season Trailer: Robin Wright's POTUS Declares, 'Francis Is Dead' — Watch

(9/28/18) (Video) It’s the dawn of a new era in the final season trailer for the Kevin Spacey-less House of Cards. In the above video, newly elected president Claire Underwood declares that everything Francis ever told the American public was a lie.

The fresh footage shows Claire giving a speech in front of the U.S. Armed Forces following the death of her husband. “My first 100 days as president have been difficult,” she says. “I lost my husband… we were about to celebrate 30 years together.” And yet, Madam President has no interest in sugarcoating Francis’ wrongdoings. “Here’s the thing: Whatever Francis told you the last five years? Don’t believe a word of it.”

We also get our first glimpse of Claire’s interactions with sibling lobbyists Annette and Bill Shepherd (new series regulars Diane Lane and Greg Kinnear), during which she declares that “Francis is dead,” and any promises he made them don’t carry over to her administration. Later, we witness what appears to be an attempt on Claire’s life; blink and you’ll miss the gunshot being fired into the presidential state car at the 51-second mark.

Netflix previously released a teaser the sixth and final season which showed Claire at Frank’s gravesite, thus spoiling the admittedly inevitable death of Spacey’s character.

House of Cards‘ final eight episodes drop Friday, Nov. 2.

B&B’s Brown Advances In Congressional Race

(6/7/18) Kimberlin Brown (Sheila, B&B) will advance to the next step of her congressional run, according to The Desert Sun. Based on preliminary returns, U.S. House member Raul Ruiz and challenging Republican Kimberlin Brown Pelzer are poised to advance to November’s midterm elections, where they will go head to head in the race to represent California’s 36th District in the U.S. House of Representatives. Ruiz garnered nearly 55 percent of the vote, as of 9 a.m. Wednesday, with all precincts reporting. Brown Pelzer got nearly 23 percent, coming in far above other Republicans, who each earned between 4 percent and 8 percent of the vote.

Teri Hatcher: I'm not broke and homeless

(3/9/18) Actress Teri Hatcher has threatened legal action over an “absurd” tabloid report suggesting she is broke and homeless.

The former Desperate Housewives star found herself hitting headlines on Wednesday after a Star magazine story alleged the 53-year-old was so poor, she had been forced to live in her vintage Volkswagen camper van.

Dismissing the false gossip in a TV interview for KTLA 5 Morning News on Thursday, she said, “It’s totally absurd…

“It’s categorically false. I’m not broke, I’ve done very well investing my money. I’m not homeless, and I’m not living out of my van.”

Instead, Teri explained she has been busy filming a new show: “I am shooting my YouTube series, Van Therapy, in my van,” she shared.

According to TMZ, the star is now considering filing a lawsuit against the tabloid publishers over the article.

The actress, a mother of one, also took to Twitter to shut down the unfounded claims as she acknowledged International Women’s Day.

“On #internationalwomensday It’s important that we speak up for ourselves & speak up for what’s right,” she tweeted. “#VanTherapy is a series that was created for people to have a safe place to come & talk, not an opportunity for tabloids to spread false rumors.”

Just last month, Teri discussed her new project with HauteLiving.com, explaining she is enjoying travelling around Los Angeles for the show because it gives her an opportunity to connect to people from all walks of life.

“I’m learning and sharing so much, but one thing that seems so common and simple is that people just want to be seen and heard,” she said. “I think they are really valuing having a place to tell their story, to share a problem or a frustration even if the outcome isn’t a resolution.

“At this point, even with all our technology, I think many of us feel more alone than ever, which is ironic. Through these interviews, I’m learning that I’m not alone in my struggles and neither are they. The human experience is more common and similar than our media may make us feel sometimes. We all want to be accepted, loved, safe, and just okay. So it’s a bit cliche, but I think my experience with this project is really validating the saying, ‘You can’t judge a book by its cover.’”

Teri Hatcher Wants a Desperate Housewives Revival

(3/8/18) Teri Hatcher is ready for a Desperate Housewives revival, but she doesn't know if it will ever actually happen.

The actress, who played Susan on the ABC series, appeared on ITV's Loose Women on Wednesday and talked to the co-hosts about the TV series and whether there's a possibility of a revival.

"We all miss Desperate Housewives, if there was ever a chance for that to come back, would you go back?" Hatcher was asked on the show.

"I would be the first person, yeah, I never wanted it to be over, I loved those characters," Hatcher shared, before admitting that she doesn't think the chances of a revival are "very good."

Why?

"Well just because of the creators, I mean it's not the women, I think the women would probably all do it," Hatcher said. She later shared that while she's "not so much" in touch with the other women, she's "supportive" of what everyone's doing in their lives, mentioning Eva Longoria's pregnancy.

"Very excited that Eva's about to have her first baby," she told the co-hosts.

Longoria, who played Gabrielle on the series, also spoke out about a Desperate Housewives revival in December.

"I wish! I love that show. I miss it every single day. I miss being Gaby. I miss being on set. I miss everything about it. But our creator [Marc Cherry] has said many times he wouldn't bring it back," Longoria told NewBeauty. "Plus, we're all so busy. Felicity [Huffman] is always off doing some Emmy award-winning show. I'm busy with my projects. I don't know if it will ever happen, but I'm all for the idea!"

After eight seasons, Desperate Housewives went off the air in May 2012. Would you like to see a revival or do you like how the show ended?

John Conboy, Producer of ‘The Young and the Restless,’ ‘Guiding Light,’ Dies at 83

(1/23/18) John Conboy, an executive producer known for his work on soap operas “The Young and the Restless,” “Santa Barbara,” “Guiding Light” and “Capitol,” died Friday in Palm Desert, Calif. He was 83.

Conboy won four Daytime Emmy Awards for his work on the soap operas: his first for “The ABC Afternoon Playbreak,” two for ABC’s “The Young and the Restless” and one for “Santa Barbara.”

After beginning his television career as an actor, he made the switch to producing in 1973 on “The Young and the Restless,” then one of TV’s top-rated daytime programs, for which he won Emmys in 1975 and 1983 for outstanding daytime drama. In 1982, he left the show to create and executive produce soap opera “Capitol” for CBS, which ran for five years.

Conboy went on to executive produce NBC’s “Santa Barbara,” winning his fourth Emmy in 1990 for daytime drama. He returned to CBS to produce “Guiding Light,” then the longest-running daytime drama in TV history. He also worked on a number of TV movies, including “Kiss of a Killer,” “The Solitary Man,” “After Hours: Singin’, Swingin’ and All That Jazz” and “After Hours: From Janice, John, Mary and Michael, with Love.”

Growing up in Binghamton, New York, Conboy graduated from Carnegie Mellon University’s College of Fine Arts.

“The Young and the Restless” star Judith Chapman tweeted on Friday, “It is with heavy hart and a grateful smile that I called him my friend.”

A private memorial service is being planned.

Former Executive Producer John Conboy Dead

(1/21/18) Daytime icon John Conboy, who served as executive producer for several soaps during the genre’s most popular years, has died. “It is with a heavy heart and a grateful smile that I called him my friend,” tweeted Judith Chapman (Gloria, Y&R et al). Conboy started as a producer on LOVE IS A MANY SPLENDORED THING (1970-73), then became EP for the then-newly launched Y&R in 1973 and served in that capacity until 1982. That same year, he moved to another debuting sudser, CAPITOL, where he stayed until its cancellation in 1987. Cowboy was then top exec for SANTA BARBARA (1991) and GUIDING LIGHT (2002-04), but also produced several TV movies along the way. Conboy had even created his own soap called CASINO, which was set in Las Vegas, but it was never picked up. During his career, Conboy picked up four Daytime Emmys, three for for Outstanding Drama Series (Y&R, 1975 and 1983; SB, 1990) as well as a statuette for Outstanding Drama Special for THE ABC AFTERNOON PLAYBREAK’S THE OTHER WOMAN (1974).

A TV soap opera actress-turned-avocado grower is running for congress in Coachella Valley

(10/11/17) (desertsun.com) Kimberlin Brown Pelzer, a soap opera actress-turned-avocado grower, announced on Tuesday her candidacy for Coachella Valley’s congressional seat, becoming one of potentially two Republicans looking to parlay their TV presence into a political career.

Best known for playing the villainous Sheila Carter on “The Young and the Restless” and “The Bold and the Beautiful,” Brown Pelzer also owns an interior design company and, with her husband, Gary, a sports fishing and marina rental business in San Diego, among others.

"The reason I'm running for office is because for the first time in our country we’re not leaving behind something better for the next generation," she said.

Brown Pelzer recently moved to Palm Springs, but told The Desert Sun that she's been attending charity events in the desert for more than two decades and that her financial services company has been operating ATMs here for seven years.

She closed out the second day of the Republican National Convention in 2016, scoring early points with local GOP organizers for her backing of Donald Trump and her complaints about taxes and small business regulations. She also criticized "suspect trade deals" that create foreign competition at home and can leave American workers unemployed.

The immediate reaction from Republican activists was positive.

“I know this is the person who’s going to win,” Joy Miedecke, chair of the East Valley Republican Women Federated, said on Tuesday. (Video)

The 36th Congressional district, which extends from Hemet to Blythe and includes all of the Coachella Valley, leans Democrat. For months, Republicans have been searching for a viable candidate — someone with name-recognition who can quickly raise money and sway independents in a region that voted overwhelmingly for Hillary Clinton in the last presidential contest.

Brown Pelzer said she's "the kind of person who will work with both parties" and doesn't see her prime-time support for Trump in the last election as an obstacle. "The fact that President Trump did not spend a lot of time in California was a business decision," she said. "You put your money where it brings you the most return."

Incumbent Raul Ruiz, a former emergency room physician and the son of farmworkers, easily won re-election in November 2016 and so he’s currently sitting on a war chest worth $1.6 million.

Republican Dan Ball, a former television news anchor, has also been in talks with consultants about a possible congressional run, but has yet to say for certain whether he, too, is going to challenge Ruiz. He said he planned to make an announcement next week.

The election is 13 months away.

A Lois & Clark Reunion! Teri Hatcher and Dean Cain Stage 'Soaring' Selfie 20 Years After Series Finale

(6/20/17) (Pic) They reached the heights of fame together on their four-season run of 1993’s Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. And on Tuesday, Teri Hatcher and Dean Cain reunited over 20 years later for a high-flying selfie snapped from the top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

“Soaring together again,” Hatcher, 52, wrote on both Twitter and Instagram. “So fun to reunite. Thanks to #bridgeclimbsydney.”

Hatcher was all smiles as her arms wrapped around her 50-year-old former costar, similar to what her character, Lois Lane, had so often done with Superman.

Cain, meanwhile, remained serious — raising his fist in a typical Superman pose, ready to leap tall buildings in a single bound (or, in this case, complete the rest of the popular tourist attraction with the help of a safety harness).

Cain and Hatcher — who was also decked out in safety gear — are currently touring Australia for the Supernova Comic Con and Gaming Expo.

The pair’s sweet reunion comes nearly 20 years to the date after their popular ABC show had its series finale. That episode aired June 14, 1997.

While it’s been awhile since they flew together as Man of Steel and Lois, both are no stranger to Metropolis.

Previously, Hatcher and Cain had roles on The CW’s Smallville and Supergirl — the latter where Hatcher had the chance to tap into her villainous side as Queen Rhea of Daxam. Cain, meanwhile, played M.I.A. Danvers patriarch Jeremiah.

Supergirl Meets Lois Lane? Teri Hatcher Joins CW Series as [Spoiler]

(1/31/17) Supergirl now has a Lois to go with its & Clark.

The CW superhero series has cast Teri Hatcher in Season 2, TVLine has learned.

Hatcher, who played Lois Lane to Dean Cain’s Clark Kent in ABC’s 1990s Superman series, will appear in multiple episodes of Supergirl; character details are scarce, but she’ll eventually become the season’s big villain.

Cain, of course, also has a recurring role on the show — he plays Kara’s adoptive father, Jeremiah Danvers.

In addition to Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, Hatcher’s TV credits include Desperate Housewives, Seinfeld, The Love Boat and Jane By Design. She also recently recurred on CBS’ The Odd Couple.

“No offense to any of the wonderful actresses who have also played the part, but Teri Hatcher is my all time favorite Lois Lane,” Supergirl executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said in a statement. “To have her come back to the SuperWorld in a completely different part is an unbelievable gift to me, [EP] Greg [Berlanti], and the fans.”

Jess Walton Shares an '80s Ad for the Soap

(12/9/16) (Pic) Jess Walton (Jill, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS) shared the greatest photo for “Throwback Thursday” — an old ad for the soap where she’s actually featured on the facing page for another show!

“I guess you can call this a throwback,” she wrote. “Back from my days on CAPITOL. Who knew I’d end up on Y&R?”

Walton didn’t reveal the exact date of this ad, but she was on CAPITOL from 1984 until it was canceled in 1987. That’s when she joined Y&R as the new Jill Foster Abbott, replacing Brenda Dickson.

Longtime fans will recognize the late Terry Lester, who played Jack Abbott on Y&R throughout the ‘80s. And that’s Marj Dusay as CAPITOL’s Myrna Clegg, who later went on to become beloved to GUIDING LIGHT fans as Alexandra Spaulding!

Of course, now this ad makes us want to watch old ‘80s episodes of the soaps with all the big hair, big shoulder pads, and big drama!

Teri's not just a cool mom, she's also a good tipper. She left $20 on a $73 tab -- better than most.
