Chapter 3

Meg and Vanessa were having lunch at the Java Web. They had just bought lots of baby clothes and toys and were talking about baby names. Michael walked in and ordered coffee. He saw Vanessa and meg talking. His heart skipped a beat looking at Vanessa. He still loved her so much but how could she forgive him for not having enough faith in her? He was so angry with Virginia and at himself but when Virginia had a nervous breakdown he couldn't abandon Jimmy and had talked with Virginia's elderly aunt and they had agreed that Michael would have custody of Jimmy and she could visit whenever she wished. Neither of them wanted to move Jimmy away from school and the neighbourhood he had come to love so much.

Michael went over to Vanessa and and Meg and said hello. He seen all the baby clothes and felt a little sad but remembered that Meg had told him that Vanessa and Tyus weren't together but would share custody of the baby.

Micael: "Well, Scoop. Looks like you have everything you need".

Vanessa: "Yeah, I do". "Except you", she thought silently to herself.

Michael: "Well, I hope everything goes well and call me if you need anything OK?"

Vanessa: "I will. Thank you Michael".

Michael said goodbye to Meg and Vanessa and went back to Surf Central.He wanted to take a shower after working all day.

Meg: "You know, its so obvious how you two feel about each other. Why don't you tell him your still in love with him"?

Vanessa: "I don't think he feels the same way anymore. I hurt him so much when I didn't tell him I thought the baby could Tyus's".

Meg: "But I think he has forgiven you. I think you should talk to him. What do you have to lose"?

Vanessa: "My pride, my self-respect".

"But how much do they really mean to you"? Meg teased.

Vanessa laughed: "Do you really think we could put everything behind us and start again"?

Meg: "I really do. But you have to try Vanessa. You have to go to Michael and tell him how you feel".

Vanessa: "Idon't know if I can do that exactly. We have barely spoken for weeks. Maybe if I just go over to say hello?"

Meg: "Well, thats a start. I think he would really appreciate that".

Vanessa: "OK, thats what I'll do".

Vanessa gathered all of her shoppping bags together, said goodbye to Meg and went to Surf Central and knocked on the door.

Michael had just gotten out of the shower and heard someone knocking on the door. He quickly put a towel around himself and went to answer the door.

As soonas Vanessa seen him in the towel she dropped her bags on the ground and put her arms around him and kissed him.

When they finally stopped, Vanessa said quickly: "Michael, I love you. I have loved you since the first moment we met and I always will".
